On the 23rd of July, 1987, the Lord brought together into
community the four separate charismatic prayer groups in the
Our Lady of the Abandoned Parish, namely: Munting Langit
Prayer Group (Poblacion), Servants of the Lord Prayer
Group (Sto. Nino), Our Lady of Lourdes Prayer Group (JPA
Subdivision) and Immaculate Concepcion Prayer Group
(Lakeview Subdivision). The united prayer groups called themselves
Our Lady of the Abandoned Parish Catholic Charismatic Renewal, which
was later changed to Our Lady of the Abandoned Prayer Community,
whose servants call themselves the Servants of Jesus.
A few years prior to the founding of this community, a group of
Catholic lay preachers held Life in the Spirit Seminars within the
parish. These seminars produced abundant fruits and small
prayer groups were formed. These groups held separate prayer
meetings until the Lord, through the coordination of Bro. Tony
Agustin and with the blessing of then parish priest Msgr.
Dalmacio Eusebio Jr., inspired and led the four prayer groups to
unite as one community where parishioners may regularly come
for worship, teaching, counseling and experience community life.
Since then, the community started to grow and developed an
organizational structure as well as a set of norms and
disciplines. The first Servant Leader was Bro. Edwin Valencia,
the former leader of one of the four original groups. He was then
followed by Bro. Rickson Pakson, who held the leadership post for 3 years.
Bro. Nelson Tianzon took the post until 1998 when changes were made
in the organizational structure of the Community. Central leadership
is still being held by the Core of Elders as the decision-making body
with four members and the Head Servant with equal leadership capacities who can only issue resolutions
or decisions as one body. Under them are the Ministry Head servants which
compose the Service Council, the administrative council of the Community.
Revival hit the community in July 2000, and the fire, zeal, and enthusiasm of the
members never waned. Revival Nights are being held once a month, and Passion - a higher
level of intercessory, are held weekly aside from the Monday nights vigil.
Today, the Our Lady of the Abandoned Prayer Community is composed of many
ministries such as Music, Dance, Worship, Formation, Technical, Information,
Youth, Young Adult, Finance, Kiddie Kingdom and Familia (Couples). They are actively supporting
all Parish activities and Formation, and also helping other parish-rooted communities in their growth especially in
areas of worship and music
