Our Vision: A Community Rooted in the Parish, with Mary as Model, Dedicated for Evangelization
The Servants of Jesus is a community of Servants based in the Our Lady of the Abandoned Parish; and being thus, we are deeply committed to our identity as a parish-rooted community. This statement has many implications and one of them is that we intend to stay under the parish structure and work with the parish for evangelization and re-evangelization.
The name of our parish, "Our Lady of the Abandoned", gave us the inspiration to follow the virtues of the Blessed Mother. Mary was, for us, the first disciple of Jesus and a real model of discipleship. Many of our teachings and way of life - humility, obedience, faithfulness - are virtues of Mary and with the Blessed Mother on our side, we know we will someday reach our home in our Lord Jesus.
Evangelization - it has been one of the most important thrust of our community. Being Servants of Jesus, we put much effort to Jesus' command to "Go and make disciples of all men". Much of our activities and programs are centered on this calling. We hope, together with all Christians, that someday "every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord".
Our Mission: To form and develop members of the community as Servants of Jesus, to provide for the total well-being of each community member, and to bring people under the Lordship of Jesus Christ especially in the Parish
First, as we aim to be a community of servant disciples, we want to encourage Christians, especially members of our community, to give themselves wholeheartedly to the service of God. No community member is just a participant, everyone is a servant, offering themselves to God.
Second, our community is in a country struggling not only in economic stability but also in morality and political stability. Thus we want to help one another, in times of trials, not only in spiritual strengthening but also in giving out financial help. We aim to imitate the first Christian communities where everyone shares most of what they have to everyone (Acts 2:42-47).
Lastly, one word sums it all - evangelization. We aim to be true evangelizers, spreading the good news most especially within our parish and local community. We see a future where Jesus is Lord of our whole parish community, and eventually of our country.
